At Four Kitchens, we love OpenID. We love it so much, in fact, we set up our very own OpenID server at GetOpenID.com.

An OpenID is a username that can be used on thousands of sites across the web. Here’s how we describe it at GetOpenID.com:

Imagine having one identity that would work on thousands of websites. Imagine not having to create an account each time you comment on a blog or post on a new message board. Imagine being able to manage your usernames and logins across hundreds of services from one website.

Virtually all of our projects are OpenID-enabled, which means you don’t have to set up individual accounts for each of our sites.

Creating the logo

We wanted to pay homage to the OpenID logo while creating a unique brand identity.

To ensure that the circled arrow clearly represented GetOpenID, we incorporated the arrowhead to evoke the hanging lip of a sans-serif G. The result appears to combine the characters G and O, as in GetOpenID.

Designing the website

We design our projects according to the Four Kitchens Philosophy: simplicity, usability, and readability.

Simplicity

We wanted GetOpenID to be the easiest, most user-friendly OpenID server on the web, so we made it simple: creating an identity requires only six steps, and we don’t require any personal information.

Usability

We designed the interface to be completely foolproof. We’ve done our best to ensure that users never have to hit the “Back” button in a moment of confusion.
