What they needed
A variety of content generated by the R community was scattered across many sites — blogs, the excellent crantastic.org package catalog, documentation with in R packages but not on the web directly, and others. The goal of the inside-r.org site was to provide a place to access all of this, making learning and using R easier, and ultimately growing the R community.
How we helped
Four Kitchens built a website that automatically ingests and organizes these disparate sources, and provides for editorial curation of the content. Content is also generated on the site, in the form of tutorials (How-Tos) and questions and answers. Documentation internal to R is parsed and provided via the web complete with syntax highlighting and keywords linked to other parts of the documentation. New contributed packages are automatically found and documented in the site, and managed feeds collect high-quality blog posts from the R community.
